A Cyst is a common medical condition characterized by the formation of a closed sac-like structure in the body. Cysts can contain fluid, air, or other semi-solid material. They can develop in various parts of the body, including the skin, organs, and tissues. While most cysts are benign and harmless, some cause discomfort and may require medical attention.

Types of Cysts:

Sebaceous Cysts: Also known as epidermoid cysts, they form just below the skin's surface and are filled with a thick, oily substance called sebum. Sebaceous cysts are usually harmless but may be removed if they become bothersome or infected.

Ovarian Cysts: These cysts develop within the ovaries, which are part of the female reproductive system. Most ovarian cysts are functional and occur during the menstrual cycle. Although usually benign, larger or persistent ovarian cysts may require medical treatment.

Ganglion Cysts: Typically found near joints or tendons, ganglion cysts are filled with a jelly-like fluid. They are most common in the wrist and hand but can also occur in other areas.

Breast Cysts: These cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can develop in breast tissue. They may be linked to hormonal changes and are often benign. Breast cysts may cause tenderness or pain.

Pilonidal Cysts: These cysts occur near the tailbone at the top of the cleft of the buttocks. Pilonidal cysts can become infected and cause pain and swelling.

Bartholin's Cysts: Found near the vaginal opening, these cysts develop when the Bartholin's glands become blocked. They can lead to discomfort and may require drainage or medical treatment.

Kidney Cysts: Kidney cysts are fluid-filled sacs that can develop on or within the kidneys. Most kidney cysts are benign and do not cause symptoms, but larger cysts or those associated with kidney disease may need treatment.

Pancreatic Cysts: These cysts occur in or on the pancreas and may be filled with fluid or solid material. Some pancreatic cysts can be precancerous or cancerous, requiring medical evaluation and management.
